On Giving Thanks

Whether You're in the U.S. or Not, Happy Thanksgiving
Dear --

I hope that this note finds you well, enjoying life and the many good things that it has to offer.

In this season of being thankful and giving to others, I want to take this time to thank you for supporting my site, Minding the Bedside, and for sharing it with those who you know. This year has seen a lot of growth in participation in this site and that's because YOU have shown up and explored what I've offered. Thanks!

I know that many of you, my readers, are not in the United States so wishing you a "Happy Thanksgiving" may not seem to apply to you. But when you think about it, taking the time to be thankful is so important when it comes to your own happiness.

I'm not sure whether you've tried this or not, but I find that when I'm feeling sad or upset with something that's going on in my life, if I can remember to be thankful and grateful for what I do have, I can more easily find my way out of my sadness or being upset. Does this happen to you to? Are you able to change how you feel about your situation by remembering the good things that you have in life?

Because meditation is about relying on your mind to change how you view the world , the practice of gratitude can almost be a form of meditation. When you find yourself feeling grateful for what you have, giving thanks for the good that is in your life, it can make those things that are difficult seem a little bit less important.

So, in the spirit of the holiday of Thanksgiving, I'd like to wish for you a very good holiday season, full of gratitude and thanks for all that is good in your life.

May your life be filled with opportunities for sharing and caring and may all that you do bring benefit to others.

Take care, happy holidays, and very warm regards,
