A Book Review and More Science on Meditation...
Dear Friends -

I hope that this note finds you all well, enjoying life and all of the opportunities that it gives you to.....meditate, especially during the challenging times when you really do wonder if you can meditate. You can!!

I wanted to share with you all that I just received an incredible book review on my book, Minding the Bedside: Nursing from the Heart of the Awakened Mind. (You can find the link to the review below)

For those of you who don't know the history of this site, it was this book that first inspired me to create this blog (hence the name, "Minding the Bedside ") and that got me into writing content on meditation.

Anyhow, recently the site, nurse.com, contacted me about writing a review of the book and doing an interview with me for their blog - yay!!

The book review has been written and is wonderful and I'd like to encourage you, the readers of my blog, to check it out. While you're there, please leave a comment, share the review on your Twitter or Facebook pages, and let others know about it. I want to share this review with...the world!!

The reviewer of my book, Meaghan O'Keefe, is a wonderful writer in her own right and I'd love to support her writing efforts (as well as - unabashedly - getting a buzz going about this article.

And since we're on the topic of meditation...

I just love it when science adds its voice to the discussion on meditation and its benefits. In that vein, I'd like to share with you a link to a recent article that was published in the journal, Frontiers in Neuroscience. While it's a bit "heady" and heavy in research jargon (many of the articles that I present are, that's the nature of research), it's interesting in that it addresses the underlying neurological mechanisms of meditation and has some cool colored schematic diagrams involving the process(es) of meditation. Here's the link to download the article:

Neural Mechanisms of Attentional Control in Mindfulness Meditation

Enjoy!

Take care,
