Professor Kathy Sykes on Meditation

Hi Friends -

Hi there. I hope that all's well in your corner of the universe.

Every once in a while, someone makes a video on meditation that's a "must see." While I can't claim that any of my videos fall into this category, I would like to share with you a great video, created by the British physicist, Professor Kathy Sykes, which explores the practice and science of meditation.

Professor Sykes is a remarkable person. Check out this interview from the UK Guardian. It gives you a sense of who she is and why I like her video. She's a bit unconventional and that's the kind of approach that I like to take in discussing meditation.

This video is remarkable for a number of reasons. First of all, Professor Sykes shares a "beginner's mind" enthusiasm in her exploration that's simply delightful; she really enjoys this stuff! Second, she doesn't just focus on the practice of meditation, but also interviews a number of researchers whose work on the neuroscience of meditation has brought this important conversation to the forefront.

Here's the video. It's a long one, 57 minutes total, but can be watched in small bites without diminishing the experience. Enjoy!

If you're interested in more information on the science of meditation, you can visit the Science page of my site.

Please let me know what you think about this video and whether you'd like me to share other videos lk

Take care and enjoy,

Jerome Stone
