Pain Management in Five Easy Pieces!

Hi ,

I hope that this note finds you well, free from stress and....pain!

Speaking of which.....

Last week I shared an article that I'd written for allnurses.com. So many people have visited the site and  have read the article that I wanted to encourate you to visit the allnurses site.

allnurses.com is a great resource for nurses. Whether it's the new graduate looking for some job-application guidance or a seasoned nurse, looking to make a change, this site has tons of great information.

And if you haven't  read the article on pain yet, I hope you'll give it a look. I've received a number of personal emails through my site telling me that the information in the article as been "extremely relevant" and  am hoping that it will continue to benefit the nursing and pain management community.

I think the opening paragraph pretty much nails what I cover in the article.

It starts like this:

While scores of patients in the hospital environment experience some degree of pain, for many of us the topic of pain and pain management is (pardon the pun) an uncomfortable experience.

In order to treat the pain in our patients' experience, we need to come to terms with our own views about pain; our biases, fears, and misinformation on this important topic. And we need to learn how to bring our mind, compassionately in focus, to the art of pain management. By doing so, we may find that managing pain, others' or our own, is a lot easier than we think!
