Meditation as an Outrageous Practice
Hello

I hope that this note finds you well.

So, what's with the title and why am I using the word "outrageous" to describe meditation?

There are a lot of ideas about what meditation is and I've discussed a few of them in past videos. I've also shared that,

At its heart, meditation is a state of non-distraction

Fundamentally, meditation is a state of non-distraction, where we don't follow after thoughts, judgements and feelings that arise.

Additionally, when we're within our meditative mind, we don't create thoughts about our thoughts, or feelings about our thoughts, or thoughts about our feelings....we simply allow all that arises to settle back into the stillness of the mind. And we remain, undistracted, present and aware.

But, can we meditate at a rock concert? Or while we're swimming? Or if we're upset? Or...drunk? (*Hint: I've tried all of them...and it works!)

While you might not think that there's anything outrageous about practicing meditation at a concert or after having consumed a bit too much wine, most people are convinced that meditation is about doing something, rather than simply being...undistracted.

In this video, I share a little bit about how we might be able to use meditation in any circumstance in our life, and why being able to do so might make it (seem to be) a bit outrageous.

What do you think; can you make your practice of meditation a little bit outrageous by moving outside of the boundaries of your usual practice and bring it into other activities?

Please feel free to drop me a note and let me know what you think about this; how can your meditation practice be outrageous?
